Privacy Policy

Knot-Trade (“Knot-Trade,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Knot-Trade web application at knot-trade.com and the Knot-Trade mobile applications for Android and iOS (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Services you agree to this Policy.
1. Who we are
Knot-Trade is a multi-tenant business application that helps commodity traders, mandi brokers, and agri-merchants in India manage their day-to-day operations: inward purchases, bardan (packing) inventory, customer khata, day-close, and reports. Each customer organisation (a “tenant”) gets its own subdomain on knot-trade.com and its own isolated database.

2. What we collect
Account & identity.When a tenant registers we collect the owner's name, mobile number, email, and a hashed password. Each subsequent user added by the tenant admin provides their own name, login, role, and contact details.
Business records. Through normal use you create records inside your tenant database — vendors, customers, inward purchases, bardan stock, payments, expenses, sale invoices, day close snapshots, and so on. This data belongs to your organisation and is segregated from every other tenant.
Device & usage. Like most apps, the mobile client records standard device metadata (model, OS version, app version, IP, language, crash logs) and product-analytics events (screens opened, taps, time spent) so we can debug issues and improve the product.
Cookies & storage. The web app uses first-party cookies and browser local-storage to keep you signed in, remember your tenant, and cache feature flags.
We do notrequest access to your phone's camera, microphone, location, contacts, SMS, or photos.
3. How we use your information
- Provide and operate the Services for your tenant.
- Authenticate logins and prevent unauthorised access (mobile + password, OTP for registration).
- Compute reports, ledgers, and day-close snapshots from your own records.
- Diagnose errors, monitor performance, and roll out updates.
- Respond to your support requests at keyur@knot-trade.com.
- Send transactional messages (registration OTP, password reset, critical service notices). We do not send marketing email or SMS without prior consent.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your business records to train machine-learning models or to profile users for advertising.
4. Third-party processors we rely on
Running a hosted SaaS product means a few well-known service providers process limited data on our behalf. Each is bound by its own privacy commitments:
- Microsoft Azure — cloud infrastructure that hosts our application servers and databases (India region).
- Google / Firebase — mobile-app analytics, crash reporting, and push notifications. Receives anonymised event, device, and crash data only.
- Office 365 SMTP — outbound transactional email (OTP, password reset, service notices).
We do not share your tenant's business records with any third party for their own purposes.
5. Storage, retention & location
Data is stored on servers located in India. Tenant business records are retained for as long as your subscription is active. If your tenant is closed, we keep an encrypted backup for up to 90 days for recovery purposes and then permanently delete it unless law requires a longer hold.
Server-side passwords are stored as BCrypt hashes; we never see or store plain-text passwords. Connections between the app and our servers use TLS.
6. Your rights
You may at any time:
- Access, correct, or export your data through the app UI.
- Ask us to delete your account by writing to keyur@knot-trade.com.
- Opt out of non-essential analytics from your device's system settings (Android: “Opt out of Ads Personalisation,” iOS: “Limit Ad Tracking”).
- Withdraw consent for transactional communications — though some messages (e.g., OTP, security alerts) are required to keep your account safe.
Deletion of your tenant data is performed within 30 days of a verified request. Where law (tax, audit) requires us to keep certain records longer, we will tell you which records and for how long.
7. Security
We follow industry-standard practices: TLS in transit, hashed passwords with a rotating server-side pepper, role-based access within the app, and per-tenant database isolation. No internet service is 100% secure, so if you suspect any unauthorised access please write to us immediately at keyur@knot-trade.com.
8. Children
Knot-Trade is a business tool and is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify tenant admins by email. Continued use of the Services after a change means you accept the revised Policy.
